Dave-G
Brother has a 97 Pajero import which has no rust issues because he's had it wax oiled every two years, but has to shop around for insurance companies who will cover imports. I think modern vehicles are all chasing weight targets so use thinner steel and no underseal to save weight. My old Honda CR-V was undersealed from new, no rust anywhere. I think it ought be a requirement for any UK vehicle to be factory undersealed because of road salting. Without exception every MOT i looked at in that price range was suffering rust of the chassis. Im waiting for my old Colorado to be taken away and this morning attached the batteries and turned the key away it roared [it hasn't been started since the summer], so there we have it, fantastic engine carp chassis. Ive had 2 Landcruisers both needed welding !, question... are jap motors more prone to rust than Brit Landrovers, or Scandinavian and German models...By the way you can get a very nice Freelander 2 for that kind of money. nissan patrol
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, I remember the waxy oil from years back with my mini chassis and side panels , even diesel mixed with engine oil can keep rust off for a year or 2 and use a pump up garden sprayer, best in summer after a good wash under motor leave to dry and spray on, with lots of old newspaper on ground, leave over night and should be dripless 🤔😁
