loopy bunny blaster
are there any companies that produce good side by side shotguns for about £600-£1000 as im applying for a shotgun cert in a few weeks and am looking at some options of what to buy after. thanks Tom
starlight32
There is not many companies making sbs's new these days for that money. Zabala and yildiz make make some sbs's in the 400-500 mark. You find thatif you want single trigger ejector, you will end up with an old (But still perfectly serviceable) AYA or other spanish make. I am after a new sbs, am cnsidering a zabala but I have bad reports regarding reliability.
Baldrick
You can buy a tidy English second-hand boxlock SBS for that price - I'd definitely do that rather than buying a new SBS. If you're going for a traditional gun, then buy one that looks the part, rather than a something like a brand-new Beretta 471. The choice is huge at the £600-1000 mark, with AYA boxlocks being the most prevalent guns available. However I'd aim for something like the trusty Webley & Scott 700 - bomb-proof, and English. I'd look on Guntrader, and also at the various auctions like Holt's (where there are some bargains to be had in this relatively unpopular area of the shotgun market). A quick search on Guntrader for SBSs within your price bracket brings up 117 options - there's a William Powell boxlock at £1000, or a nice EM Reilly at £795. If you buy second-hand (which you should), try to get a 2.75"-chambered model though, with sensible choking and a decent length of stock, e.g. 14.75". Whether you go for a gun that's been sleeved is up to you.

beatingisbest
If i was you i would try to find a good secondhand AYA NO2, you should be able to find one for £700. Or like has already been said English guns are always good, but with s/s ALWAYS buy secondhand!
Graham M
Or a nice BSA boxlock G.M.
loopy bunny blaster
ow much was that?
Graham M
It's not so much how much it cost, more how much it cost to renovate it B) T'was a bit on the tatty side when I aquired it, but looks a treat now, and for a lot less than £600 G.M. Eagleman
For the sort of money you have available I would definitely go for a s/h AYA No2 no question about it.
al4x
Just out of interest, why do you want one? and have you used one much in the past?

Baldrick
Good man, Loopy. SBSs have some distinct advantages in the field: the reduced gape on the action makes for speedier loading, they are invariably lighter and easier to carry, and SBSs just look the part. al4x
thats cool as long as you know what to expect, I can't hit the proverbial barn door with a SBS so was just checking you'd used one before :lol
