invector
Shot 23 on OSR today. Nice and windy, with rain in the afternoon. The OSR is well up on those fields which were sown after barley. Out again tomorrow,on different fields.
Country Boy
Same in Yorkshire there are a few pigeons showing interest on oilseed rape, but have been unable to decoy any so far and in some places can't go yet because of start of the pesky pheasant season. invector
Just got home after shooting 48 pigeons over OSR today. Less wind, and they were a bit slow, but 48 pigeons for 89 cartidges is OK with me.
Catamong
Just got home after shooting 48 pigeons over OSR today. Less wind, and they were a bit slow, but 48 pigeons for 89 cartidges is OK with me. Do you reckon they were intent on actually eating the rape, or picking up the chickweed and odds and ends of barley and wheat that would still be present? If so, it bodes well for some good shooting this Winter. Cat.
the hitman
OSR is just coming through up here, pigeons still hitting stubbles . I have spotted a few gleaning beechmast .
petera
Went yesterday and shot 15 without decoys, just on a flightline. When walking back to the car a flock of about 150 got up from one of the fields where the rape is just coming through. Went out early this morning, no wind and clear blue skies and shot 37 in an hour and a half. They were coming in extremely well into the decoys / bouncers and a flapper. Also started with a magnet but took this back in as they started to flare off.
CARBINE
hi all,I was shooting north yorkshire on friday and they were on stubbles osr and some on drillings all next to each other so I don`t think they care what they eat at the mo and the gas guns were out???
