Its main advantages is it only heats the water you need and you don't have to lift it like a kettle which is great when my hands are bad. I fill the Breville with a jug from the filter tap. The filter tap is at the side of the sink which has a cartridge which needs changing every six months. We have an older version of this - starting to get on its last legs. I got it for my wife due to her routine 1. Switch Kettle on 2. Realize kettle is empty when goes to fill cup 3. Fills kettle to the top 4. Switch kettle on - calls her mother as it will take a couple of minutes to boil 5. 15 minutes or longer later - puts kettle on again - still on phone to mother 6. 15 minutes or longer later - puts kettle on again - still on phone to mother 7. Eventually makes a cup of tea at a cost of about £3 in electricity to make that one cup
