We have done ours for the last few years now. Got cheesed off paying in excess of £20 to be crammed into a cold field, struggle to park, have the kids moaning they were bored/cold etc and being knocked about by others because the organisors cram too many into an area.

We now have a family get together event. Fire in a barrel, hot food, couple of beers and plenty of chatter to catch up with news in the family. We all put some money into a kitty and then I order thefireworks through a trade contact. <_<

Grandparents love to catch up and enjoy the kids, everyone get's to chill out in a relaxed atmosphere too. if the kids get bored or cold they can go and play inside. The other upside is the dogs have company so they don't feel as nervous with all the loud explosions going on.

Not sure what I'm going to do, a few years ago I had a huge fireworks display in my garden, little did I know the farm down the road didn't have their dog tied up, it got scared and ran away never to be seen again <_<

No one in the village has had fireworks since

I might give it a go this year

Normally we go splits with my parents and brother for fireworks, a few mates and their families sometimes. Beers. Barbie up and running. Tbh it was better at our last house as we had a massive garden with a lot of mature trees which i used to prune back every year, and this used to be our bonfire, which was normally huge. Cant really have a fire where we are now as the gardens organised and a lot smaller, but i miss my fires.

Last year our display made the local pub one look pitiful. It was like a competition to put up the biggest rockets etc. We won.

Whats the point, we take the girls to an organised do. Its well run, they have a huge bonfire, refreshments that arent overly priced and a firework display that is actually worth watching. Its also timed to music which is played through a huge PA system. It costs us less than a box of pointless DIY fireworks and we don't have to mess about trying organise lighting a firework that dribbles sparks over the lawn.

I do miss the Jacket Potatoes, Peanut Brittle and a shot of the warm stuff, though.
