hi all starting to have problems with my 3.5 escort magnum, firstly when i first had the gun the cartridges were getting jammed after the 1st 1 had been fired(gamebore 32g clear pigeon)just thought it was because it was a new gun so put a box of 36g carts through it and no problem, then back to the pigeon carts and gradually it got worse it would eject the 1st cart then the second would get stuck, then sometimes it would chuck the second live cart out and jam the third, anyway took it back to the gunshop and they sent it back to edgar bros, picked it up yesterday and edgar bros said ive got to use 70mm carts and no shorter anybody else heard of this or had simular problems i thought a gun like that would take any lengh cart

Well call it de ja vous, if you will.

the number of times I have posted about these poor quality guns.

I have had 2 myself. 1 brand new lasted only 3 cartridges, several of my mates have owned them,

ALL, have been returned to edgar bros,

Who in my mind should keep em.

they are ****.

Now watch for all the escort owners come out and say what a good gun they are.

They don't tell you when they have sent em back.

better to buy a second hand beretta 300 series, or an old browning a5.

they just keep working.

well speak as you find,i got a 3 inch mag escort, and yes it does jam with small carts, only 70 mm and above .works fine with 70 mm carts, and ive shot over 400 carts in a week, only 1 or 2 jams, because i havent had time to clean the gun, dont jam when cleaned a bit.i will agree they are total ****,but for the money ,look after it ,and use the right ammo, and they fine, ive shot tons of foxes, crows, pigeons, squirrels, rabbits with mine ,and it still doing job ok.would love a berreta, and will get an extrema one day,but for now it well worth the money :exclamation:

I cant speak highly of escorts my 1st was second hand and the breech pusher smashed after 2 weeks

i bought a new one and tried 36 gram hull sovereigns and it would not recycle them.

the gun went back to edgars.

no problem with the guarantee.

but say you have travelled 200 miles for a shoot and it goes haywire.

sad.

never the less I would be interested to here of your progress with your gun.

just for the record. in the future.

The majority of semis are designed to cycle 70mm cartridges.

Peter is correct, Beretta semis are probably the best. I have no trouble with mine, and certainly dont go out of my way to buy 70mm cartridges.

McF bought a new Browning semi several years ago. After conducting contolled tests we discovered that it would only cycle 70mm cartridges. This was later confirmed by Browning and a few of the UK cartridge manufacturers. McF tried 3 of the guns, all new, all with the same trait. He no longer has a semi, but loves to shoot my Beretta.

Just brought an Escort off of goldfish, arrived at my rfd with the box so battered by the courier the the cocking handle had snapped  Edgar Bros posted me a new one no probs, tried it with 50 rounds of trago mills finest **** and it shot and ejected every cartridge like a goodun :good: even managed to bust 37 out of 50 clays on my first outing!!!

I know it's not a fancy pant baretta but thats not what I want to be holding when im sat in a hide about to catch every bramble or bit of barbed wire!

£360? i would get the cash back and change gunshops.

swillington guns, £295 for the same gun brand new.

you can pick up a beretta 301/302/303 or browning a5 for under £360. they don't go wrong.

Mine is fine, it doesnt matter wheather it 30-32g etc, carts just have to be 70mm.

trouble is for us who shoot clays only, we have to stick to 28 grams

my beretta recycles 24 grams all day long.

if you are shooting game the problem isn't as bad, though my new escort refused to recycle, 36 gram hull sovereigns and they have some clout.

 Will give a review in about 6 months, if you see it in the for sale section before then you know it's pants :good:  :w00t::w00t::lol::lol:

good man, reviews can help people decide rather than waste money on a gun that does not suit their purpose.

Doesnt matter how much powder peter, they just have to be 70mm i meant!

hot shot 28 grams 24 grams is the weight of the shot not the powder!.

does nt it still have more powder the heavier the load?? i think it does, more lead, more powder.escorts are worth the money for a knock about, ive used over 5000 carts now through mine ,hardly any probs, does stick if not cleaned regular or small carts lower than 70 mm a bit dodgy.if you can afford a berreta get one,and as for clays, get an o/u. :good:
