Hi bud, welcome to our world, to be quite honest with you I would not entertain the idea of buying a W&S game gun they are I belive made in Turkey, and while I suppose some people might like them you will find they would not hold their value very well, If you want a gun for everything then I suggest you buy a Miroku O/U, a BerettaO/U, browningO/U ,if you are a normal size then purchase any of the forementioned in 30 inch barrel length, and preferably multichoke, if you shop around you can get any of those mentioned fo the money you want to pay, I E, cash no part exchange. any of those would be suitable for game, roughshooting or clays. good luck.

Hello sir,

as mentioned i wouldn't advise going for the webley. For around 900-1000 there is alot of choice and you'd be advised to go for one of the popular brands such as beretta or browning, they have good re-sale value, solidly built and plenty of choice.

You should remember that a light gun will give you more recoil so if your busting alot of clays you'll feel it more. Also the lightweight aspect of it may affect your shooting (IMHO heavier guns are easier to swing through the clay line to give the neccesary lead, where as lighter guns are more pointable and prone to missing behind, however each to their own.)

Trap guns will have a higher rib (the bit the sight is on above the barrels) so that it accomodates for clays flying upwards and away, designed for the trap discipline only really and hence not suitable for your needs (this is why they are often cheaper than standard sporters). Sporters are allround guns that can be used in any discipline. theres a big choice out there but i'd recommend looking at the beretta 686, silver pigeons etc. If its possible take a knowledgeable mate along to help you choose and check that the gun fits you.

i hope this answer is long enough :-)

Hi

Best thing todo, is to get yourself down the gun shop and try to get a feel for a few of them.

I have had a Miroku in the past, 28 inch barrels, lovely little gun but traded it in for a SP3.

The SP3 (30 inch barrels) was about the same weight as the Miroku, but it feels lighter as it is better balanced.

Mine cost about £1200, but you maybe lucky to find a second user one for around the price you are looking for, if not just save up the pennies a bit longer..it will be well worth it.

I use to like the Browning 325, but the SP3 fits me like a dream...

Do some window shopping for now, but as mentioned certain makes will hold their value better...

Good Luck

Ian
