Country_est
Hi I have a lanber 12g sporter, 3" chamber but am trying to decipher the proof markings. Serial number decodes as 13-03-05 which is Lanber, shotgun, 2005 (year of manufacture) As I believe the following 1st is Eibar proof house (Spanish) 2nd is Nitro proof 3rd can't find out what it is Anybody able to shed any light on this as I am trying to work out what steel shot I can use if any
holloway
Standard steel will be fine if gun in serviceable condition, many would put any steel through it but that is your own decision,is it fixed or multi choke ? Not ideal if tightly choked with big size shot .
Poor Shot
1370 BAR proof stamped clearly on the barrels. I believe 1320 BAR is the minimum proof required for high pressure 3" steel cartridges. Blast away! Providing its not fixed choke at any more than 1/2 that is. https://www.shootinguk.co.uk/guns/ammunition/will-my-shotgun-be-safe-with-steel-shot-cartridges-25848 Edited October 20, 2022 by Poor Shot

JohnfromUK
From "Notes on the proof of shotguns and other small arms, 4th Edition August 1981" The third mark (if it has a CH in the shield) is supplementary of magnum proof.
