Hi there,

I've recently inherited this .22LR, I hope someone could identify the model? I believe it is a BSA model 2. It's a single shot .22LR.

I took this to the range last weekend and it was good fun to shoot! However, the sights leave something to be desired... I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a scope rail that would work with this?

Many thanks

You are unlikely to find a scope rail to fit it, looks like it will need drilled and tapped by a gunsmith/gunmaker to accept a weaver or picatinny rail, though to me this would spoil the rifle, it looks like a dedicated single shot target rifle and you would probably be best leaving it as such....  what is the issue you're having with the current sights?

That confirms my google results so far - nothing available! I'd rather not drill it and keep it period correct. The rear aperture is too large, this could be me showing my rookie rifle skills, too used to shotguns!

Rearsight is a PH16? If so it'll have a letter after that number sixteen. The letter might help tell you which BSA it is.

Fab - thank you, will double check

Leave it as it is or look around for a similar but suitable site. These little, not especially high value rifles are worth looking after. Soon it will be like old motorbikes. Nothing low spec left as everyone saved the Gold Stars and scrapped the Bantams.

I could never change this gun - it was my late grandads, the stock has seen better days and if this was just "another gun", I would have refinished it by now!

Somewhere in my attic...and at present i am having a big sort out...I may have still in their packet at set of Alex Martin telescopic sight mounts. But don't hold you breath as I may have disposed of the years and years ago.

@enfieldspares fantastic! Keep me posted, but I dread to think of the cost?!

Does anyone have any idea about the cut-out in the stuck with the two screws in the barrel, this looks like an aftermarket change, I'd assume for a sight?

Set up as a target rifle ,probobly 25 yards  . Looks like some one at some time past has fitted a sidemount of some sort but it does not look big enough for a scope .I have seen side mounts that screwed onto the stock , but in the days this gun was made very few people put scopes on .22's .
