CaptC
A rather nice old Cadet which, unusually, has a very powerful spring - very impressed! The blueing looks to be original, the “B” at the start of the serial number is faint. There are no markings on the cylinder. The number 6 is underneath the cocking arm. Someone had refurbished the stock and the BSA logo has gone. Woodwork though is in good order. Iron sight’s intact, screw heads reasonable. Trigger pull like all Cadets is a hard squeeze. I have taken the gun apart, lubricated the spring and smeared Vaseline on the threads. The cylinder has some old rust “pits” but they cannot be seen. A very nice working wall piece? £65 posted thanks.

moondoggy
They look like the air rifles that they used at the fairgrounds. I remember using something like that many times at Hull Fair back in the sixties and seventies.

CaptC
They were the standard gun at fairgrounds. Millions of pellets must have been fired worldwide with a phenomenal tonnage of lead. I remember them in the 50’s at Whiteleggs Fairs. The stall holder would rig the sights by tapping the rear sight off centre. Easily remedied by canting the gun! There were prizes on strings which were nigh impossible to break as the backstop was several inches behind. Hitting teenage years we moved up to the rifle gallery with Winchester pump .22’s firing short shot rounds. Alas, never to be seen again although there is an air rifle gallery at Dingles Heritage Fairground Attraction near Lifton in Devon Edited March 29, 2023 by CaptC
London Best
Honestly, I don’t mean to sound negative, but the sights are not original.
CaptC
I think you might be wrong but too tired to check this evening. Find me a picture please?
CaptC
Just now, CaptC said: Same sights. The Cadet Major had adjustable sights and trigger. The Cadet sights could be adjusted by tapping with a hammer!

CaptC
Thanks. As we say down here “Matter do it?” The gun is 70 plus years old and a few modifications are acceptable.
