I believe that in America swearing allegiance to the flag gives you the right to bear arms as a American citizen 

Not sure what is meant by this; there is no requirement to swear allegiance in the firearms licensing act, and can’t think why there would be? 
The 2nd Amendment gives Americans the right to bear arms I believe; we have no such right in the UK.

now.............im a bit on unsure ground here......but it was legal until Tony Blair took office to carry arms within the westminster enclave....even in the chamber.....but he put a bill thro to remove that right!!!!!
