Lathe Mod

Needing to turn some metal but unable to afford a proper lathe, I converted my old Clarke wood lathe. I already had a 2" three jaw chuck and coupled with a bolted on old X-Y vice and some cheap Chinese cutting tools i found that I could, with care turn stuff. Its a bit cack handed, (almost like a left handed vice?) but nonetheless I have made firing pins now for an old double gun and for my Ithaca 37 (I made a tester for both in brass then turned silver steel. I case hardened then re-tempered as advised in the S x S club elsewhere on PW. I don't believe that I could make micrometer perfect parts, but removing very little metal with each pass seems to work fine and well within the tolerances of the guns. The brass parts I will keep as size guides and also to monitor how I (hopefully) improve with practice
