30-6
My brother's doorbell push button has stopped working. He assumes it's the push button rather than anything else in the circuit. It's AC wired into the house. I'm assuming there is a difference between AC and DC types, am I correct ? If so, can anyone suggest a brand / model that could be fitted as an exchange. 39TDS
An AC version will have a transformer, it won't be sending 240 to the push button for obvious reasons. I would think any pushbutton would do if that was the problem.
Diver One
To,prove if it had s the push or not just short the two, wires at the "push" together. if the house dates from the 60s/70s look for a light switch next to the fuseboard...may be in off position. It was common back then to fit switches to isolate the bell, when it wouldn't stop ringing. Possibility the bell could be battery powered and the batteries are dead
Agriv8
Take the cover off the button There should be a signal wire thinish bell wire if it’s of an age? test if you are getting any dc voltage with a multimeter? if you are bridge the wires does the bell sound ?
