Taking a Shotgun on a P&O ferry to Netherlands

Only ever to Northern Ireland with P&O and Stena, but very easy and relaxed used to need certificate of approval from PSNI and then your english/scottish/welsh licence (I think that the certificate of approval is done away with now). I'd like to think it's the same to Europe, provided you have the extra paperwork you need on the other end (European Licence?) to show should be very straightforward.  My Dad's been to Netherlands, but few years ago, and always flying, Schipol used to send guns out on the conveyor belt, wouldn't be the only airport to do this either!

Hope someone has more relevant and up to date info for you.

In short, the law is here:

Please note you need to follow P&O procedures and policies, and you are best to call them and they will guide you:

Finally, whilst P&O should be able to advise on legalities both sides, it wouldn't hurt to research up on gun carriage in the destination port and any countries you pass in. I'd suggest this is a good place to start:

Thanks … and your advice above is 100% in line with what’s needed.

I basically need to book with P&O by phone, and give the required details … and hand my car keys over when I board.

In NL I need a consent form, which I can fill in online and send (circa a week for approval).

The success means I can still get my day in Yorkshire shooting on the Monday and manage to be at a business meeting in Limburg the following day  … win-win !!
