Solway66
Hej im new here bet The 17 hmr has been discused a lot before but i just bought a cz 455 Laminated thumbhole stock. Got a moderator on it and toped it off with a vortex viper 6 x 24 - 50.. I tried 17 grain bullets and 20 grain and it seens to like 20 grains better. 5 shot groups with 20 grains 100 yards is around 2.5 centimeters for 4 shots and always 1 flyer around 5 or 6 centemeters out 🥴 very frustrating.. Whats your experiance with different ammo?? Im using cci game point..
Whitester
Keep shooting it mate. All the HMR’s that I’ve had take a few hundred rounds to break in and liked a dirty barrel. If this doesn’t work try some different ammo, they can be fussy.

Whitester
My cz457 was doing the same when I got it, now 200 rounds in and silly accurate, most cz’s are good shooters.
30-6
Welcome to the frustrating hmr saga. I shoot a 452 cz and it to prefers 20g rather than 17g. But, 20g usually just " pencil through ", but ok for definite head shots, so once I finished the few I have left it will be 17g only. Don't want to scare you, but some years ago there was a big problem with 17 hmr ammo. If you are not familiar with this problem do some research to familiarise yourself. It was a big safety concern. Don't know if these bad batches are still out there anywhere, but better safe than sorry. Enjoy your rifle. 👍

the enigma
I've recently started shooting 17hmr again after about 6 or 7 years using .22lr. Using Hornady 17gr Vmax, looks to be spot on accuracy wise and no split necks so far. My 1st hmr was a cz452, tried both 17gr and 20gr Hornady and also Federal 17gr Vshok, accuracy was pretty similar with all of them
