Just had the call, they're not going to extend my 8 week grace period (July renewal date) and I've got 2 weeks to find someone to store them. They're just clearing April renewals so I've got to find someone registered to store them by 24th September.

Back of a fag packet calculation suggests that my 'renewal' should've been 'done' on Xmas Eve.

Should I be expecting my ticket to plop on the mat any day now?

Just thought i'd add my tuppence.

I received my FAC/SGC renewal letter a little before Christmas so i duly printed off the proforma medical, handed it to my local surgery and paid the £42.50 in advance. Got a text 5 days later it was all done and ready to be picked up so once home i scanned it to a jpeg, took a selfie (they accept this), completed the forms on 26th December 2014.

Things are a little different for me because i suffered a stroke in 2019 and thats classed as a medical episode.  As a result, my short term memory is now dire so when i have to do something i have to do it there and then or it will get forgotten forever.

My certificates dont expire until 5th May 2025 so now playing the waiting game.

Quick update.

Got an email today saying its unlikely they will be able to process my renewals intime so im granted eight weeks extra.

Just as long as they don't insist you store them at a gunshop at your expense.

I started the ball rolling early because they told me to on the renewal letter and they still cant get it done on time.

Yes, I suffer Cambs, strange how it all used to work quite well until Covid and then the amalgamation of the 3 authorities.

Things have very much slowed down since the three counties joining up. My renewal didn't take too long last time and no extensions were issued or guns put in storage and im only doing what they asked (to start the process promptly).

I’m in Cambridgeshire and I’ve just applied for an FAC grant and had applied for my SGC renewal in October last year. I’ve been issued an 8 week extension for the SGC so hoping to hear from them by end of March and in an ideal world they would just do the FAC at the same time. Given my missus is renewing her SGC is well they would clear 3 applications from the backlog in one visit in theory.

Have been told by an RFD that he’s heard of increasing cases of people being issued multiple extension letters due to the delays at present so I won’t hold my breath I guess.

Had a call yesterday from someone at HBC FA asking three questions about my residency and nationality and told my SGC renewal "...is moving forward..."

He wouldn't be drawn on timescales or what date/month they were currently up to.

Is it a new way to prioritize items in their backlog? I'm surprised that they started to ask such questions, when you need to provide that info in your application form anyway.

Hey! Just wondering if anyone's heading to the British Shooting Show next week? I might not make it myself but really need to chat with the Beds/Herts/Cambs FEO folks.

Bit puzzled because reddit post about people who applied months after me already getting their interviews. Makes me think different counties might be working through their backlogs at different speeds. I've tried emailing them about it but no luck getting answers. Would be great if someone could ask them about this in person and about current backlog size in general!

Not worth going, they will tell you absolutely nothing as they did last year. Total waste of time having a stand, should not be allowed and made to clear the backlog first. Going to the show is like going into a sweet shop with no money.
