Not a rant, just an observation;

Whilst the cost of Car Insurance has risen markedly, my Home Contents Insurance Renewal has seen a good drop in cost.

I have trawled through all of the comparison websites and got a much better deal from Admiral.

Years ago, a Mate worked for Norwich Union and he reckoned there were always a couple of firms looking ahead and willing to offer good deals to get your custom.

I reckon that still holds true, you just have to remember to go hunting for a better quote rather than just accept the renewal offered by the firm you are with.

Good lucck.

Good lucck.

not what i've encountered buddy.

i renewed mine about 2 weeks since and my renewal quote (buildings and contents) was 20 quid short of double the amount i paid last year.

i've had no claims or issues for maybe 15 years.

the actual price i paid was less than 5 quid more than what i paid last year.

WITH THE SAME COMPANY!!!!!

how's that work then?

i don't usually give companies my business that don't give me their best quote from the outset,BUT,they were 60 quid less than the meerkats price with better extras.

I have just received my quote for house and contents combined from Avivia ( Ex Norwich Union ) and it have gone up by just over £20 which is not excessive considering last year it was under £100 , I will go on the comparison sites but if it is only a few quid then I will it on a well known insurance company .
