30-6
I have just bought a NV as in the title, I don't want to appear thick, but can you charge the battery in the device via the C lead or does it need to be done on an external charger ? If done in situ, how do you know when charging is finished ? Can't see any topics on battery charging in Pards help pages. Also, I have read that some people are running out of adjustment for the Y axis trying to center reticle. If I understand from their help pages they suggest packing top or bottom of scope with tape to I guess sort of tilt add on. Am I correct in thinking centering reticle is not really needed, and will not affect point of aim, but purely to please some users who like a centered reticle. wyn
I'm sure you can charge it via the lead but it's not advisable as they can get very hot and maybe even go up in flames. The 008 may need shimming but the 007 doesn't as it fits straight on the scope so you only need to focus it on the scope reticle.
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, As above , get a decent charger and batteries, mine came from Torchy Boy
30-6
Yeah, I got charges, but I would guess that if battery is taken out of pard there will be some sort of back up inside so as to keep settings of brightness etc. One thing I noticed was the Pard battery must be very slightly smaller diameter, as my other 86510 batteries will not fit in device. Clever marketing I guess so you have to buy Pard battery as a backup.

Hello, It is not the diameter but length of battery that is important, Torchy sell flat tops for Pards
30-6
My other batteries will not fit in the Pard, Pard batteries must be slightly smaller in diameter. Edited July 25, 2024 by 30-
wyn
Your other 18650's could be "protected" . These batteries are slightly bigger as they have electronics added to them. The one that came with the 007 is probably just bog standard.
30-6
Nobody has answered one of the questions I asked. So, do you have to center the reticle as per instruction manual. Or can you leave x and y on "0" ? I have run out of adjustment for y going down, it doesn't bother me so can I just leave alone.

Your scope is zeroed at whatever range you desire, put the pard on and it should still hold zero. If it doesnt , its possible the clamp isnt straight/true on the scope, remove , rotate the shims (if used) and try again. Make sure youre looking straight down the eyepiece, and not looking from the side, that can throw aim off, make sure you have a full sight picture and you should be fine. The reticule on the pard was a throwback to the original, for which a special mount could be bought to use without a scope for close range ratting. I use a 007 SP LRF , and the higher mag you go , the more difficult it becomes to get a useable picture, due to the SPs high base mag. My 5x scope ends up giving me nearly 20x on base. Anything higher and youre going to struggle.
30-6
Thanks for the reply Rewulf. I have just got my first Pard the same one as yours. I'm out of action at the moment as I have damaged the nerves at the bottom of my back and struggling to walk. I don't seem to have zeroing problem, and the scope reticle seems pretty middle, but the booklet seems to suggest that you have to " centre the X and Y " , which is confusing. When I am able I'll just set the X and Y to zero ( 0 ) and go from there. My scope is a Hawke 3 base mag with SF so all should be ok. Thanks for your help.
