steve1066
I see the English at the moment are teaching the Irish the art of football, it seems the Irish have put out their Sunday pub league thugs and are already 2 goals down.

old man
A bit of a concern really, the opposition seemed to substitute ball control with inappropriate body contact coupled with crowd hysterical booing? I'm pleased that team lost, shame it was only by 2 goals, 5 would have been better. Won't waste any more time watching it.

Totally agree with you old man, when the crowd realised that their team hadn’t the footballing skill, they were then happy to cheer body checks and kicking to the back of the legs. Yes it concerned me also that so many showed such hatred, my respect for the Irish has gone right down after watching that. Just too many at it to say it’s the minority. The English team kept their cool but thought the ref left it too late to dish the yellow cards out.

It doesn't help that both rice and grealish played for ROI as youth players I believe then chose England for senior career. Then both scored. Then both scored. I can understand the Irish fans feeling they are traitors to some extent. But they were only kids when they played, but I can understand the booing for that period of the game. Quite interestingly I watched a guy speaking to the Irish fans asking what did they think about Rice and Grealish playing for England and two lads in their early 30s said they should be stripped of their Irish caps as they were a disgrace, he then asked a couple of Irish lads in their 40s and they said it they don’t blame both of them playing for England as it was the Irish FA fault for not chasing and tying them down to Ireland when they had the chance. So very mixed reactions.
