Conor O'Gorman Posted Thursday at 19:14 Report Share Posted Thursday at 19:14 We might say YES. But will your local authority recognise and support your nature recovery efforts in managing target species and habitats?48 local nature recovery projects, led by local authorities, are being rolled out in every part of England. If you want to get involved search online for "LNRS" together with the name of your local authority. Once the projects go live next year we will be contacting BASC members about habitat and species management opportunities and possible funding streams.Context here: https://www.shootinguk.co.uk/news/recreational-shooting-key-to-nature-recovery-149488/
TIGHTCHOKE Posted Thursday at 19:19 Report Share Posted Thursday at 19:19 Oh, I hope it works out in our favour rather than against us. They are looking for a mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain.
holloway Posted Thursday at 21:35 Report Share Posted Thursday at 21:35 We need to show that managing our shooting areas is beneficial to non quarry species completely unconnected to shooting and not only self serving conservation such as Duck tubes corvid control etc ,thats the way forward, plant species are just as important .Genuine conservation projects.I belong to a club that is attempting to follow these ideals ,probably would be an excellent project for Basc conservation magazine to highlight and follow ,maybe i should contact them we are Basc members whats your thoughts Conor? Sounds interesting - best to email the S&C editorial team - email details in the magazine. Also FACE is looking for case studies to showcase with policy makers at EU and international level and your club could submit information here: https://www.biodiversitymanifesto.com/share-your-project/ If your club project is in England have a look at the local nature recovery strategy for your county - depending on its stage of development there may already be online habitat maps available and you can see what they say for the land your club manages. Each project has opportunities to provide feedback, including a formal public consultation on the final version of the draft plan and habitat priorities map. BASC is responding to every public consultation.
