mattyg1086
Hi all, this may be a bit controversial but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me. I got my spaniel spayed about three years ago and since then she has had to be on a tablet called incurin. This is costly and requires me to pay the vet for a prescription and then order it online. Recently I have to also pay to go into the vets every six months just to renew the prescription. A nightmare that was caused by her being spayed. My question is this can I get these tablets from anywhere else, abroad maybe?
old'un
Does she suffer with urinary incontinence? Did a quick Google and could not find any available without prescription, UK or abroad, usually get a hit on Amazon but not for this drug, sorry. I'm just sick of paying the vets for medication caused by something that they talked me into doing. I'll never get a dog spayed again unless it's medically necessary
old'un
What’s the cost per tablet? There is an alternative drug called Proin ER which does not require prescription but these work out around £1 per tablet. serrac
This might be worth looking into: My invisible friend chatGPT: "Incurin® is the brand name for the drug estriol, a natural estrogen used primarily to treat estrogen-responsive urinary incontinence in spayed female dogs"https://www.indiamart.com/proddetail/evalon-forte-tablet-estriol-tablets-2849620500555.html I'm assuming the stated price is 85 rupees(79p) for a strip of 10. These are 2mg rather than 1mg for Incurin so you'd need to give 1 of these for every 2 Incurin so should work out ~4p per dose.

How safe is that website I wonder Indiamart is like an Indian version of Alibaba so you'd be dealing with individual sellers on the platform. You'd need to do your own due diligence and should make any payments with a "safe" method such as a virtual credit card number.
harkom
Excuse the interruption on this thread - if you want insight into the rules formulated by the "regulators" of prescription only medicines - have a look on NOAH - under clinical particulars/indications. You will then come to/deduce the conclusion , ..(hmm..I hope) ....that the control and rules of pharmaceutical sales (over a period of gradually introduced regs) has been written by the pharmaceutical retail industry ... not forgetting a subsection of the veterinary "profession" with interests in this sector. Or... otherwise written by muppets.
