magman
CZ every time. i have seen 3 10/22's being put through their paces ( both of dons and our old shooting buddies ) All were chuffing unreliable. Shot lots of rabbits with the old bolt action and never thought i needed a semi to increase the bag. The bag that you need to carry your kills is as big as a fleas **** :stupid: Don But Don as you say, you shot them you carry them .

At this level of joint deteriation you will need the .223 by xmas

HA HA aged companion now feels obliged to delegate his responsibility to yts trainee for carrying what he hits. You should have seen the performance on the last fox he hit and yts wasn't there:lol: rolling his eyes and huffing and puffing as he dragged vulpine interloper along behind him..... he whined like a spaniel in a hide all the way back to the car .... You will all be pleased to know i hardened my heart to his pleadings and recriminations and for a moment thought i actually saw pensioner sweat on his brow then realised it was dew
Harnser
Got my FAC application in and being processed for a 0.22LR, just wondered what current option was on the 2 rifles i've got my eye on. Considering a Ruger 10/22 or CZ452 100 acres permission with lots of bunnies and rats to shoot. Appreciate one is a semi and other is bolt action. Have read some people consider bolt actions to be more accurate and more reliable but the ruger seems to have a bit of a cult following. Any advice info much appreciated. Dont even concider any self loader .Ihave 50 years experiance shooting every thing from rats to moose in canada .I have tried self loaders and they are all prone to dirt and are ammo sensitive ,and in real cold weather are inclined to slow up with the lube on them getting to cold and stopping them cycling .You will find your self trying out so many different makes of ammo ,you will then have to buy a bolt action rife just to get rid of all the odd boxes of ammo that you have in the cabinet .Buy a bolt action rifle ,it saves you pulling out your hair wondering what the hell is wrong with this poxy rifle . SPARKIE
My first rimmy was a 452 which was an excellent rifle. I now own a tricked up 10/22 which is easily as accurate as the 452 was and is totally reliable with subs being an excellent hunting gun (which is all i really do) i have never worried that the 10/22 would ever let me down and it hasnt. Great guns imho. but is you 10/22 only as acurate because you have tricked it out .. my opion on this would have to be the cz bolt ive shot rabbits next to each other on numorous times had 3 all next to each other with dougy 1 night they never even flinched as i was shooting the gun at the others ive never had a problem with bullets in my .22cz will group with any. Yes ive tricked up my ruger and that will undoubtably improved reliability/accuracy but that was half the fun. Ive also had plenty of mutiple bags with my ruger yes the action cycling is fairly noisy but then 'working' the bolt on my old 452 wasnt noise free either neither of them seemed to bother the rabbits. Its all down to personnal preference i shoot four of five times a week and know that i can totally rely on my ruger and only clean it every 300-400 rounds knowing that i'll have no problems with stoppages. njc110381
I'd get the bolt gun. I've got HMR and .22lr on my ticket and my hunting gun will be a CZ452 American 16". I am buying a .22lr auto, but only because I have the HMR in bolt action and I want to shoot semi auto comps. If I could only have one gun, it would be a CZ bolt action .22lr
