Roost Shooting 01/02/2025

Recommended Posts

Very long time since I posted on here however I intend to make this my main platform to post my days out in the field from now on...

Had a great first outing in the wood last Saturday. A very still start to the day meant the birds were flying very high especially with their reluctancy to commit with being shot at from pillar to post!

Playing the patient game however and only shooting at sensible birds I started to chip away and build a respectable bag. As the evening drew on the wind picked up and the birds started to come in with much more confidence. This continued to improve as their desperation to roost increased as the light began to fade.

I was very happy by close of play to pick 52 woodies and a single Jackdaw. Hoping for a similar day tomorrow!

Good luck to all heading out...

Tom

Brilliant bag! Glad you agree with my tactics "Playing the patient game however and only shooting at sensible birds". We are there to shoot pigeons, not just to shoot AT pigeons. Blasting away at speculative birds does nothing except scare them away, unless you are Mr Digweed, which I am not!

Trying the same plan tomorrow!

Cheers,
