wymberley Posted Sunday at 13:51 Report Share Posted Sunday at 13:51 (edited) It wasn't a 2 bore but a 2" which I inherited and was by Patstone which may just help provided we do not have a simple coincidence or a slip of the pen. Pushandpull Posted Tuesday at 07:23 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 07:23 You have enquired on this topic before. Patstone built some fine punt guns but many many years ago. A handful of 2 bore shoulder guns have been built in recent years, notably by the late Alan Myers. They are huge heavy things. Small punt guns are usually known by their bore in inches, so one of the small sizes to be found is 1 1/4 inch, which is in practice pretty close to a 2 bore, and would typically fire about 8 oz. minimum. Some were built for heavier loads and the gun weight goes up in proportion to manage recoil.
Pushandpull Posted Tuesday at 09:09 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 09:09 A further thought. When you say "light weight", do you mean "small" ? Light weight is not a good thing in a punt gun and traditionally it was always said that a heavier gun would shoot "harder" - whatever that really meant.
