funky
HI just to say hello i have recently got back into shooting. I live in Suffolk I have an AYA Yoeman S/S 3/4 1/2 choke and also have a hw80 and a Daystate x2. I have enjoyed some good pigeon shooting on a farm near me where i have permission to shoot I also use my Daystate there for the rabbits... I enjoy decoying and have had modest bags between 10 and 20 birds which is not bad for me lol I have had my shotgun for about six month and i must say its great sport... I am a little confused as to what i can do in terms of shooting in these winter month. I have had a go at the old Decoys but that seems to have died a death I had good sessions just after the farmer had drilled a new crop.... Weat i think but am a little confused and puzzled as what to do next. I have noticed that the local Pigeon population have been eating Peas but the farm i shot on at the moment has no nutritional value to the Pigeon as the Weat crop all 120 acres is resembling small shoots of grass. What do i do can you help ?? Thanks funky
Cranfield
If you post a question in with your "Hello" post, its really in the wrong section and gets missed by a lot of people. Firstly, Welcome. If your permission is cropped with wheat, then it is not going to be very attractive to the pigeons until next year and decoying over it will be hard work. If you have no other crops available there, why not ask your Farmer to put a good word in with one of his neighbouring Farmers, who might have some rape that needs looking after. You could also go and knock on a few local Farmers doors. Another thought is if there are any woods on your permission they will be good spots at roost time, or on wet days.
