Steve
If shooting at a dairy farm, stick a few full-bodied deeks on the roof of the meal shed (above the entrance). Stand to the side of the shed and get them as they come in. I have gathered huge bags doing this - it might work for you too.
lazza
I've thought about trying that. The only downside I could see is that the noise of a shotgun close to a farm may not go down well or spook any animals in nearby sheds.Worth having a look at though.Thanks. Steve
You're absolutely right Lazza. I forgot to mention that I do this at my father-in-laws farm, where both the people and animals are well used to me shooting. It would be wise to clear it with the farmer before trying this. Happy hunting.
Steve
Hi William. If birds land on the roof (which many do) it's just a matter of going up to get them. I go up to clear any that might be blocking the guttering, and the farm cats do a brilliant job of cleaning up the others! Have a go, it can be great sport. Kev
Well it sound interesting but i think those that try it need to be well disciplined. If you’re a shooter who gets a little excitable its a no no because farmers take offence at having there buildings peppered. Have fun guys Kev
dead-eye-dick
they also get cross if you pepper the cows
Malc
You've sparked my interest with this one, but do Woodpigeon enter feed sheds or were you shooting ferals?
Steve
They were ferals Malc. My father-in-law hates the ******* in his shed. They carry more diseases that are harmful to humans and livestock than rats you know!
dead-eye-dick
:evil:when i was young i did alot of shooting around cattle sheds with an air-rifle, the ferrals sit on the rails around the sheds and poo in the water troughs and on the salt blocks which the cows lick. this causes illness, most farms can't afford to lose too meny cows a week !!!!!! ferrals are full of desese. :
