vole
I have been asked to trap a field which is rotten with moles.Just been to check them and all 5 are gone, including the carpet squares I put over them. There is a warehouse next to this field and judging from the amount of bottles and cans chucked into the field by the folk there, they havent got a great deal of respect for the farm property.I cant see them watching where I set them then hopping over and nicking them or anyone bothering to nick them at all.I dont know what the farmer can do really and dont want to bother him with the loss of a few traps.Just a ****** as I was starting to get the numbers down.Just sounding off really. :yp:
tulkyuk
only thing you can do Vole, is set some more traps and then go and hide somewhere ( full cammo - will scare em to death when you catch em), wait till they are just abou to nick em again and jump out to ask em what the **** they are up to. Cranfield
I know a chap who had about 10 lifted from a Farmers field by a woman walking her dog, he found them thrown in a nearby hedge. It might be worth having a look round and seeing if they have been dumped nearby.

vole
Aint it strange. In the other 150 acres I can do whatever I do and on the field most in need of de moling I get this kind of ****.I live 10 miles away and trap moles as a favour for letting me shoot. Will have a word with farmer to see if he,s seen anything. They must have been determined as even I have trouble finding them.Rotters. dustyfox
Does anyone get that felling that you think someone is watching you? Just beware there could be more than one.
vole
I thought that it being a rural area that a guy setting moletraps would not cause anyone to bat an eyelid.i will take a bit more interest in the neighbours in future. vole
Can anyone recommend a good place for claw traps please?
salisburykeeper
what i would do is use scissor traps and set them just as its getting light (hopefully less a holes around) and just camo the tops of the traps with a few twigs and grass,i know when i usually set them i have a hard time seeing them from a close distance, but if you do this and just remember where you set them i would imagine they wouldnt get found,at least if you set them over the holiday you will know if its people from the factory doing it or not.also dont use carpet squares just use a bit of shook out turf, chances are because they where easy to find that is why they got pinched, good luck

mel b3
i had around a dozen traps go missing a couple of years ago , i never found out who stole them and to be honest it could have been anyone , the field they were in has a public right of way and quite a few people saw me setting them. i mainly use talunex these days but when i was buying traps i used the big cheese company , i was paying £2.00 per trap inc delivery , iirc i had to order a minimum of 60 traps with each order.hth
vole
I use Big Cheese ones too.Despite the cheesy package I find them good.Dont like the ones where the chain holding the trigger rust thru.I plan to set the tunnel/duffus traps next.I think whoever nicked them was well on the ball to find every single one.
