Topgunners
We went out on Sunday and after a drive round for a few miles we went for a very welcome big breakfast and then dropped back onto some rape fields and I set up the hide whilst my "Hoppo" went for another mooch. I shot 1 pigeon almost straight away and then had 3 more in the next 2 hours. Packed up and then Alan came back and we drove around some more and found a large flock hitting the middle section of two fields. we set the boys up .Alex and a friend of his who had just acquired his NEW shotgun certificate and had bought his first gun (a side-by-side). Al and myself set up in the field behind them and sat and watched as birds after birds dropped into their pattern from 150-200 metres high as if their life depended on it. They were trying to land on the magnet. We have not seen suicidal pigeons like that on rape for years. It was better than on pea drillings in the spring. We only had 2 hours left to shoot but managed 67 pigeons. Boys 46 Us 21. Very cold but a very welcome bag as they have been very scarce as of late. Good shooting boys and especially Alex's mate who christened his new gun. :yp: Dave K
Cranfield
So, Topgunners are giving away a few trade secrets........have the big breakfast to ensure a good day on the pigeons. LB said it was something like that, but I didn't believe him.
