stokie
Im looking to buy a semi auto shotty . I tried a loan gun at a clay ground , it was a second hand Berretta, it had some cycling problems which i put down to the old issuse of needing a good cleaning. But all the same it put me off buying a second hand one. I`v got about £500 to spend so a Benelli is out of the question. I know lots of people on the forum use the Escort but from what people write they either have no trouble with them at all or its forever letting them down. Has anyone tried out or own the Webley and Scott 810 semi auto . Have read the review of it on this forum, but was interested in other peoples opinion aswell. Prices seem to vary a lot from dealer to dealer . The cheapest i have found so far is £395 for the camo version from a gun shop in Burton upon Trent. Can anyone better that . tazkb
as far as i am aware they are made in turkey and the lifetime waranty only applies if you have it serviced by them every year. the escorts started well then went downhill but now seem to be sorted again the new ones have a copy of the browning black ice but pad and look very good i have one and so far after 200 shells has been flawless even with 2 1/2" shells which they are not supposed to like. Also i got mine brand new for £265 which has to be a bargain
duster
Mate of mine bought a Webley 810, looked and handled well enough but jammed constantly, it didn't seem to like any particular length/weight of cartridge despite trying all sorts. Maybe he got a bad one? As for the humble Hatsan, I've had mine for just over a year, put in excess of 10,000 carts through it (24g up to 50g) and it's never done a thing wrong. To be honest though, with the Escorts it's a bit of a lucky dip as to whether it's a good'un or a bad'un. Seem OK for the money though. Andy W
If you could afford between £6-700 you could get a nearly new Beretta AL391 Urika or Teknys, excellent build quality and reputation.
Andy RV
How about a secondhand Beretta? I'm sure you can get them for about £500.
tazkb
trounle with s/h is it's a luck thing and it comes down to a lot of factors which i for one have no patients for so i just went to my local shop and bought what was in ie escort plus it's new and has a full warentee
NeXTGen
Winchester X2 - bombproof, cycles everything I ever put through it.... about 350-400 s/h, X3 perhaps has yet to be as extensively tested. Not cammo, but pretty. Hatsan make a very pretty and effective Luxano (wooden, updated escort). The *new* escort (with the new buttplate) is a very nice proposition. Appears that the Webley and Scott is a close relative... Cheers, Edwin
WORZEL
I bought a Webley & Scott walnut 810 a few months ago, absolutely fantastic gun, will cycle anything no problem. If you use the short cartridges you can get 1 in the chamber and 3 up the spout! Excellent!!!

stokie
I am unsure about buying second hand. The Berretta i tried did jam sometimes. I have asked at my local gun shop and he wont sell second hand semi`s anymore because he has been stung with warranty claims to many times. I`m not saying they are all bad but as an example when your car starts to play up the first thing that you think of is its time to get rid. Is it the same with guns I also want something that is steel proof as i want to do some fowling
