Cranfield Posted January 4, 2008 Report Share Posted January 4, 2008 They are Triploids, as are most of the stocked rainbow trout in the UK. The biology is rather complex but is something to do with egg injections and chromosones. What I do know, is that they grow unusually large and cannot breed. I caught a 19 pounder at Pennine Trout Fishery outside of Rochdale about 15 years ago. A good catch trevor, especially at this time of year.
