You wont need to worry alot over 19 grains of red dot anyway. As a rule of thumb :o Now that you are a no longer a virgin reloader, Allow 5 grains for every finger on a failure :o Well done & be safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pat 1 Posted January 8, 2008 Report Share Posted January 8, 2008 first shells loaded where 1 1/8th oz or 32 gram No6 with i think 19grains of red dotthen 1oz or 28g No6 shot some with 19 grains red dot some with 20g red dot all cases are either gamebore black gold or eley olympic trap all the loads fall into the loading data i have from lee's website and alliant powder's website but i am still very nervous , it's a funny game this re-loading lark innit dont play about with red dot powder(or any other for that matter) it is a very fast powder and you should know that a fastpowder should only be placed behind a light load.I dont think that advise from anyone other than the manafacturer would be any good. at least they should have experimented with various loads. they have the equipment to carry out tests which us ordinary folk dont. i see you are from Bolton, do you not have a neighbour who specilises in reloading!. for what its worth i prefer green dot for 1 1/8oz loads. if you are happy that you have followed alliant`s recomenditions then provided your gun is up to it there should be no need to be nervous. could i suggest that in future you keep an exact record of what components and weights you use.
