Baldrick
For the Tikka T3 (and 595/695 etc) owners amongst you: Does almost every Tikka have Optilock rings up top? I've just searched through the forum and there are a few users who have mentioned problems with the two-piece Optilocks. I've been using Warne Maxima rings on other rifles for some time now, and I am wondering whether to stick a set of Warnes on my .223 Tikka T3 (they are made for the Tikka dovetail). Any advice appreciated.
JohnGalway
I had Optilocks on my T3 when I had it. Have Warnes now on my Remington. Can't fault either to be honest as I've not had any problems with them.

I have optilocks on my M595 and would not hesitate using them on another rifle .I'm guessing that the negative comments centre around how the optilocks are assembled prior to mounting them on the dovetail but what sells it for me is the plastic insert that sit's inside the clamp giving a perfect fit leaving no crimp marks on the tube . I don't know about the Warnes but do they have a recoil peg like the optilock? Other than that go with your instinct buddy.
Baldrick
Ive, that's my worry, that the Optilocks have no recoil stud. I wondered whether any Tikka/Warne users could comment further.

JohnGalway
I'd love to be able to tell ya but I can't remember, can't see since they're mounted on the rifle and the packaging was of no help!
moses
No recoil peg on Warnes, just checked as mine are off the rifle at the moment!
Baldrick
Have your Warnes ever shifted position on your Tikka, Moses? Any problems with them?
scallopdiver
I have a set of warnes on my t3 varmint and they do have a recoil peg, they have not shifted in any way so far. I went for the warnes after reading that the screws on the optiloks were a bit soft and liable to strip out. Hope this helps

Mungler
Balders, Where will you be making your purchase from?
Baldrick
I'm looking at the Sportsman website right now, Mung, and they have the Warnes listed for sixty quid. I might try Roding Armoury in Abridge tomorrow and see if they have any in stock (or can order them in).

I got mine from sportsmans, these ones! http://web.mac.com/warnemounts/Warne_Scope...iever_LIne.html They are the GRL fixed rings, I have them on my 75 and I have never had any problems. Dunkield
I own Warnes and Optilocks. Both have recoil lugs and neither have never ever let me down, despite both rifles being clanked/dropped at some stage. I prefer scope aligning with the Optilocks, but I have heard, and know of one person that has had a problem with them. It seems you can shear the mounting screw if you lean on it a bit too hard. Warnes you need to tighten the bottom first and then do your fiddling. I think they probably weigh more than the Optilocks, but I haven't measured that. Optilocks should never mark your scope. Horses for course. Of course stainless rings with stainless rifles look super cool as well
