my springer can into season on about the 20th of jan.

the only reason i knew she had was that she had been on a shoot the day before .

and i was checking her for cuts, ticks, and sore paws.

when i notice her bits were all swollen and she had a droplet of fresh blood on the tip of it .

now i have kept her separate from my male dog .as he still has all of hes bits .and is not afraid to use them .

anyway since the 20th i have not seem anymore blood .shes not spotting nor do any male dogs seem intested in her (apart from sammy but then he would take any opportunity offer to him .as many a male dog on the shoots have found out )

i did notice yesterday that she was a bit more intested in sammy . which would be about right .day wise.

and her poor little bits are still swollen .

but what is concerning me . is this lack of blood .

now her last season she did not bleed much .and there was very little spotting .but there was some .

so my qustion is really is she in season .her last one was about last april

Most of my bitches have had the two, six months apart, seasons a year.

Some spot and show a lot more than others and some have been "interested" throughout their season, while others have shown no interest at all.

There doesn't seem to be any standard in behaviour or condition.

Each little lady seems to be quite an individual in this.

Some bitches are fastidiously clean and you will see virtually nothing, some just spot, and others will free flow, making it look like a murder took place. Keep track of the days and when she should be at the end watch carefully that she is herself and happy and energetic.

Your biggest concern is open or closed pyrametria. This is always a concern with whole bitches and is one of the main reasons for having them spayed if your have no intentions of breeding her.

thanks for you help . just had a look at her tonight and her bits are not swollen. seeing as she is on day 13 shouldnt they still be swollen .

When she has stopped bleeding and the swelling has gone down(usually between days 9-14) this is when she is ready to stand. When her "bits" are swollen and hard the stud dog struggles to enter.
