henry d
I got a phonecall at work yesterday from a `keeper who`s boss is tighter than a ducks chuff. "Do you want to come and shoot pigeons ?" well of course I did but I was expecting £££`s but it`s all gratis and I can bring my mate Lucky Jim. 3 rape fields close together, pigeon in the 100`s and good roosting woods 1/4 and 1/2 mile away I`m off for a recce tomorrow morning to check the flightlines and flag off one or two fields and shooting Tuesday, I will be off to church in a mo to pray for frosts until Tuesday and a strong westerly and overcast then

henry d
UPDATE - I have just returned from my recce and when I first got there I noticed the furthest field, which had been hardest hit, had a banger on it and no pigeons either I stood at the edge of the nearest field and watched for 15-20 minutes and didn`t see a bird so I decided to up sticks and move down a track and see what it looked like from another angle. Thats when the field erupted, the birds were 150 yds away and over a rise so I couldn`t see them. Around 2-300 birds got up circled and dropped again to be joined by 50-60 more from the wood behind me I think the wood may be a hindrance as it is a bit too close, but we will wait an see
njc110381
Well at least you have plenty of birds. Hopefully your decoys will pull them in to you. Did you get a chance yo see what flight lines they use, or did they just up and move in one big mass? Sounds like you should have a few when you go out. When do you think you'll be able to shoot it?
