Stealth Stalker
Last year over at the local gameshoot I was pigeon shooting with Pin... Pin had his handycam, and I thought it would be good to do a bit on camera of becky retrieving shot pigeons. When.... Along comes Mr Crow (high) above the hide with Becky still out in the field, I yelled at her to stay and the video tells the rest.... SS Edited March 18, 2008 by Stealth Stalker

taz24
This actualy raises a pont I was wondering about for a while now. Do retrivers see the birds fall and then retrive them or are they guided to the downed bird by the dog controler? Cheers taz
WGD
Good shot, wouldn't ever let my dog pick crows though - if they're wounded they have a seriously good aim with that big sharp beak, focused mainly on your dog's eyes. WGD
lewis
yeah wgd crows are bad but you should see magpies... their beaks are sharper and they have that bit of intelegence about them although jill is always up for the challenge (my grandads dog) Edited March 19, 2008 by lewismac1
MAJ2
Wounded squirrels are a bit feisty too. My Jack Russell learnt the hard way. Was that running water I could hear in the background? How long could you listen to that without needing to pee?
bob300w
Good shot, wouldn't ever let my dog pick crows though - if they're wounded they have a seriously good aim with that big sharp beak, focused mainly on your dog's eyes. WGD With you 100% there, nor would I, after a friend had a massive vets bill, and his dog came very close to losing an eye. All down to retrieving a crow that he thought was dead. Nice to see another one bite the dust though!
Teal
My dog does the same, send her out for a retrieve and if you shoot another bird she often goes straight to the freshly shot one. Not always though and praise is then lavished on!

Ice
This might seem like a bit of a daft question, but how do you train a dog like that? im new the the shotgun world, infact still waiting for my license, so i have never seen a gun dog working, i think its amazing how they to that and was just wondering how do you train them???
