MC
As noone else seems to want to post about it I will, some of the Essex Mafia dropped into little Oakley today for the wildfowlers shoot and to meet with Bob330w. I met Mungler and rueben in the Cross Inn car park and then made the short drive to the shoot. It was a good set up although wet and muddy (and you have to use fibre wads ) We started on stand 3 and everyone got off to a good start, then went on to 5 then 4. None of us in Essex can count. Stand 2 was a bogey for both myself and mungler. I couldn't hit the first bird (High teal to the left) I did get one of them (the last bird) and Mungler couldn't hit the second. (fast left to right battue) He didn't hit any so had to shoot the next stand with his **** out Onto the last stand (1) and I was to shoot last and the trap runs out. Markio goes and fills it up only to call pull and the sky is filled with clays. Don't quite know what he did but the first trap now throws a pair of birds further out and hardly clearing the trees. I come off this stand with a respectable 8 but it should have been a 10. Still the fact remains that I BEAT MUNGLER Now he will come out with all kinds of excuses like he was using his pump action etc but I beat him. Who needs the thomson local now :P It was a good afternoon and it was good to meet Bob330w. Cheers Martin. PS I won't mention the fact that Markio needs the pink hat LV and he and Mungler got their cars stuck in the mud
Markio
Yeah it was very muddy, it's not normally that bad but given the weather it's to be expected. Bogey stand 2? Oh yeah, the one i got 9 on? Wasn't my best day but i was still happy with the 35 ex 50, and only 3 and 4 behind Martin and Mung. That trap i filled i filled up each slot and it only needed every other slot. And it wasn't chucking the main bird further out, the second 'why the hell is that coming out' bird was too low admittedly but that wasn't meant to be shot at anyway. I'll be there in 2 weeks so if anyone fancies it... Dunno if it was the hangover but i think i took some **** today of you lot today! P.S. Thanks again the trish for scoring, even though she was getting very confused!
MC
I think I may have to make the pilgrimage again, I have nothing on shooting wise for the next couple of weeks. Only that I'll have to go and buy some more fibre wads As I said to Mungler today I find it amazing that grounds worry about fibre wads yet cartridge cases lay all over the place. Still roll on the vegetable starch wads as seen in this months Sporting Gun, the best of both worlds
Mungler
I will need a stewards enquiry. There was however one bloke there who shot superbly with a 47/50. I shot like a joey and have a sore face from the pump and borrowing Bob's gun. Lots of cream on it tonight so as not to effect the *** whooping I will be giving to Mr. Cavie et al tomorrow. Had I known that Mr. Cavie was "one" in front I would have tried harder with my pump action that cost less than the chokes in his F3 Wokka wokka EDIT: I have just carried out a statistical analysis and my 39/50 was actually better than Martin's 40. Jamie / Bazzer I will need your assistance in the calculations and could use a graph here to show that I won. Markio
Terry got the 47. Terry, Peter and Steve are the regular guys i shoot with there. It's a strange thing watching terry shoot as you've got no idea he's wiping the floor with you until you add up at the end. Very consistent. MC
If it makes you feel any better than yes your 39 was better than my 40. Although I thought it was your 38 against my 39. either way you obviously win because you have a light blue car. I think possibly that I was using clear plastic cartridges obviously makes some difference. Terry shot absolutely fantastic today and his score was outstanding. Thanks to Markio for sorting this one out and thanks to everyone for making it a good shoot. I will not be shooting with you at lakenheath although will be shooting it so may see you there. You all seemed to avoid buying Air Ambulance raffle tickets from me as well so I'll catch you all again sometime
Mungler
Bob and I both got 39. I still have my card in my pocket. So what did you get?
MC
I don't know. I will have to go out to my car and get my card. I was convinced on looking at your card it had 38 on it. Bob's certainly did. Still he has an excuse He hadn't shot clays for 17 years Where is he anyway, do you reckon he is having a nap after all that exertion? You still didn't buy any raffle tickets from me Edited March 29, 2008 by martincavie
Evil Elvis
Sounds like you had a good day, the mungler book of excuses is ever expanding....dude youve got to stop using that rusty old thing too....your gonna end up with hepatitis!!!!! I also got 38 today so I drew with Mungler too, 5th at the shoot at the game fair!!!

bob300w
Morning troops, was that Terry's wife doing the scoring ? If so, I'll bring my other half next time and I can guaratee that I will get 47, possibly 48. Oh, and she can't count, I've just looked at my card, there are 39 kills, but she wrote 38 on it. Can't say that I was impressed with the colour of Markio's 4 x 4, , and why the crown on the front? Queen of what? And why was he releasing birds before I called pull, premature ejaculation I believe that is called? Martin; Nice to meet your dog after all this time, does the the Air Ambulance service know that you are raffling off one of their choppers? Sorry guys, I did not know about the fibre wad rule, or I would have warned you, and having now played the 17 year card, what excuse do I use next time? If any of you did not get a fixture list, let me know, and I will email you one. Thanks for a fun day guys, this really is what shooting should be all about, good company and a laugh, even if it was mostly at Markio's expense. Markio
That was Peter's wife, she doesn't give away scores for nothing, in fact you have to fight to make sure you don't get half points for chips. And i know i did a **** poor effort on the buttons but it's not an exclusive job, you can all have a go. My brain wasn't firing as it should that day. Errrr.....come on.....how many times did I hear her say to you, "Oh, I didn't see that one Mark, I'll give it to you"? I didn't hear her say that to anyone else, obviously just a perk of being a Bradfield boy. How did Shaker do? I didn't like to ask him, he was groping a female of the species in the hut at the time. As for the buttons, you obviously need more training, it's your job next time.
Mungler
Good to see Markio is the "cabin boy" equivalent of the Little Oakley Wildfowlers. A good day, and looking forward to the next.

If he keeps releasing clays before I call for them, he will be the "barrel boy". How did today go at Lakenheath?

bob300w
"I wasn't aware she was doing that. Who's Shaker? " Now I am starting to have grave doubts about your claim to be a Bradfield boy, "Shaker Baker", who else? What happened to Taggs mate Kevin, I did not see him there, has he retired from the shooting scene? That lad could have shot for England, he was the high gun at just about every shoot that I saw him enter a few years back.
Mungler
Lakenheath was quite a toughy for a newbie competition C class shooter such as myself. Got 73/100 but it was hard work. Dunno how or where to get the scores - Lakenheath is supposed to have some full on bells and whistles network to RSS web delivered feeds blah blah etc but I can't find them. I never claimed to be a Bradfield boy (whatever that is), that was something you have called me. Much the same as you have never claimed to be bit senile. It's in my profile as that's where i live, and moved here 18 months ago. Don't know Kevin sorry. I only know a few names and faces.
