Used to do the same thing quite often... if you haven't got any thing else they might be interested in, you can normally get them to come into decoys set up on clover.....be ready to move if the flight line dries up though.

Spend a bit of time doing some reccy beforehand if you can.

At this time of the year with the birds coming of the rape ,and if you dont have peas ,it can be difficult to get a decent bag .The farms that i shoot have very little spring sown cereals this year and no peas . But i am blessed with about 150 acres of prime low lying cattle marshes . Thease always provide me with some good days when the birds come after the clover and the chick weed . Looking forward to shooting laid wheat and barley in a few weeks time ,and then the stubble shooting start . In my opinion stubble shooting is the high light of the pigeon shooting calender .
