After getting Tulky his 1st Roebuck,i thought it was time i got my 1st of the season.

So on Tuesday morn i get to the farm at 05.45 and sets off into the woods.1st deer spotted was a doe :( here we go i thinks.Anyway onward i go when i spot some movement, another doe :o but wait, whats following her...aha it,s a nice 6 point Buck, here we go ,stalk is on...and off,the doe led the Buck straight into the wood and up the bank ??? Ah well,i,ve only just started.

Saw nothing for a while and i reached the place where me and Tulky videoed the Buck just before the season.I suddenly hear some crashing and think EH!I was standing still, how could i have spooked anything  then all of a sudden,2 Bucks, both in velvet race past within 15-20 yds of me :o looked like a 6 pointer running a 4 pointer off his patch. The smaller Buck got 10 yds lead and i thought right down onto the sticks as the other fella may just stop here...no such luck.He sped up and butted the other one. :)

I waited to see if the victor would make his way back and sure enough, after 5 mins i here a noise on the bank behind and turn to see a deer, but it is all on edge and didn,t hang about

That blooming Tulky has all the luck :)

Nothing more seen, even though i try a few more parts of the wood.

Lot of rain through the day, then it cleared around 5ish so i think,an evening sit out where myself and Paul tried to get onto them was worth a try.I arrange to meet my stalking bud and head up to the farm around 6.

The farmers son(David) comes over to talk about some vermin he had shot,he,s a good lad,15 and keen so i says, would you like go for a Deer..he was ready before i got the rifle and Roe sack ready B)

We had a stalk along the opposite way to which i went on the morn and my mate headed the other way with arrangements to meet later.

Neither of us saw anything which was hardly surprising considering the mud.I was telling David about Buck fever when my mate arrived as i noticed his breathing was very quick...bless him.

We picked our spot and settled in,after about 15 mins i look out of the trees and see 2 Roe play sparring. It was a Buck and Doe,these were then followed by another Buck and Doe ... the heart is pumping now :D

At about 150 yds,i line up on 1 of the Bucks when i hear voices in the distance(surprising how far Asbo voices carry )this startles the deer and they head off into the wood...Nooooo,then another Doe appears and heads into the same bit of wood as the others.

Within 2 mins a Buck and Doe appear this time they head sraight for us,but i have a small tree in the line of fire so patience is required.

For about 4-5 mins i watch and wait as they play spar again, then he mounts her half heartedly and finally they settle down to feed, this is taking place about 80-90yds in front of us,we are in the trees on a small hill so above them.

Finally he is feeding in a gap and a 90grain pill is sent on it,s way. There is a mighty thump as it strikes his neck and down he goes. :stupid:

My mate who was a couple of hundred yds away heard the thump before the crack of the rifle and comes over,we decide to wait a while but nothing else came out.We watched the Doe mill about for 20 mins, she was heavily pregnant, before moving her off and retrieving the Buck.

This is where i gave David the choice(he was exited and struggling with his breathing again aww)he could ring his mate at the farm or carry it...he rang his mate..1 of the shoot syndicate members who came down on the quad and retrieved David and the deer, whilst me and my mate walked back.

As we got about 200yds away, after loading the quad,we turned to see 2 more deer cross right where we had been

So to sum up...That sod Tulky got a nice 6 pointer....and i ended up with a 4 pointer  your welcome too mate  ,anyway, mine was better shot placement :P:lol:

just one question what is/are "asbo voices" :( ?

Thanks for the replies fellas ???

H&H..ASBO = Anti Social Behaviour Order (i think) given to unruly people over here by the courts. We just call anyone being noisy or disruptive an ASBO

Rob, it`s an empty can,1 of them high energy drinks that Paul had to have before trying to drag his tired old legs back up the hill :lol:

I can't tell from the picture, was it a neck shot?

Yeah, because i was shooting down onto it,the bullet entered at the top of the neck and you can see the exit.Dropped it cleanly on the spot....any further away and i would of taken a heart/lung shot :stupid:
