Flashman
Mungler, you need to get out more or else gain an unhealthy interest in jazz mags.
Dr W
I've got a 91 Range Rover Classic 3.9 V8 already converted to gas. Was only doing 10 mpg, had an lpg service and put some new bits and pieces on and now get between 17 - 20 mpg running on gas which is equivalent to 34 - 40 mpg paying petrol prices. Not bad for a large comfortable 4x4 and what's even funnier is that I get a 'green' parking permit for my road so it's only £18 instead of £75 a year. cubix
I have a 1.9 petrol Freelander. Mostly road use, very nippy, and good on the petrol if you go light on the throttle. Does everything I need off road, and is still very torquey due to the low gearing it will pull anything I need. I'm very happy with it. nicholiath
I run a 110 landrover defender diesel and keep costs of fuel down by usin bio diesel normal diesel and vegetable oil mixes. sometimes i run on 100% bio diesel ,other times a MIX OF derv AND VEG OIL ESPECIALLY DURING THE WARMER MONTHS. You could even fit a fuel heater and run on veg oil all the time.
Wookie
Got a 2.2DTi Frontera that returns about 35 to the gallon when I drive it like a grandad. But, it's comfy and works well round the farm when I go out. The thing is, I am not sure I'd reccommend it as a shooting wagon as it has no sunroof. I'd just say accept the fact that mileage is going to be way less than a car and buy something fun that you like.
Dr W
2.5 v6 petrol vitara 35mpg i here gas conversins on the land rover engines often cause them to blow up ? Not sure about newer engines but on the old V8 engines mostly ok, there are some issues with over heating with some blocks (I think the 4.6 but not sure) but most are fine and the Rover V8 engine is one of the most converted engines due to the cost of running on petrol. stumpy28
if your on the bio diesel idea cooking oil with a lil bit of parafin in it to help with the cold starting. spot on nice n cheep. or get a biodiesel plant thats what we go here at college. change the used oil from the kitchens in to diesel to run a lot of the tractors, and the landrovers. al4x
surely its not worth doing to tractors, red diesel is still @50p a litre so cheaper than cooking oil

stoggieman
Just got to say go gas. I bought a 3.5 v6 shogun when I was working down at Evesham. I traded a 2.8 turbo diesel shogun in against it. Ihad it converted to gas down there. I find it is very cheap to run as I have an account with flo gas. It pulls my Avondale landranger with ease and the performance is exelent much better than the diesel. I did want a manual but this one was a mitsibishi show car and was automatic.Unfortunatly I was severly injured at work about 12 weeks ago and the surgeons at Scarbourough hospital wanted to amputate my left foot I have managed to keep it though it will never be any good. The moral is that I can when I am fit enough drive the shogun as it is an auto Every cloud as a silver lining Stoggieman.
