taz24
What daft things do your dogs do? I had a dog that would sulk like a spoilt child. She would lay with her nose to the skirting boards and sulk, if she had her routine disrupted. The worst time was when we moved house and she found the new suroundings to much to handle. She sulked for about a week My next door neighbor had an Irish Wolf hound. It would get jealous of the pet rabbit in the cage so learnt to open the cage door and climb in. You should see em!! It was so funny to see both rabbit and wolf hound squashed into the small cage Cheers taz.
deeksofdoom
My Mrs. brought some work home and was finishing it off on the kitchen table, I left the springer pup into the kitchen and she sat down looking up at the wife. When she wasn't being taken notice of she jumped up on top of the table right up on top of the paperwork, very funny had to be there sort of moment :good:
henry d
ATM I have 2 springers, one old gal of 13 and the youngster of 4. The youngster will mooch into the softer of the 2 beds if the old gal goes anywhere, when she gets back she stands for 5-10 seconds and if the young un doesn`t move she utters a low "Gur-Wuff" and the young lady slinks off in the huff. The old gal also will snore not only if she`s sleeping but if she`s been wakened and her eyes are open she just carries on snoring.

Henry, how did your old bitch take to the pup when you first introduced them? And after? My cocker is 12, and I was toying with getting a pup, but she has had the run of the house for all of her life, been treated like a child, and I'm not so sure that she would take to another dog in the house. sjk88
If someone walks up to the window in the lounge and looks out, my dog will rush up and look out as well thinking she is missing something important!! sjk
dustyfox
The daftest thing my dog ever done was I thrown a tennis ball and it was bouncing along the grass my dog went running for it and as he did he jumped for it turned to the side so all his paws were out to the side caught the ball and hit the ground and slided about 4 foot. I thought it was dangerous but funny. Another thing he does is when he gets golf balls he chucks them in the air himself and catches them. what do you expect from a crazy black lab Df
monkeyboots
not really a daft thing a dog i used to have but a handy thing he done was when i went fishing i didnt have a permit to fish the local river but there was a big bending corner with a high embankment which was a very good place to catch salmon anyway once you where down in you cudnt watch for anyone coming but the dog sat at the top of the embankment keeping watch , if anyone was seen coming the dog would stand up and from a good distance he was able to know if it was a stranger he started to growl which i knew was the signal to get away but if it was my cousin or uncle he started to wag his tail and i knew it was safe to fish on i never learnt the dog this he just did it himself
harryhawk
In my youth i used to take my old springer (Lady) beach fishing. Our local beach is pebbles with lots of ridges/shelves. When the mackerel are shoaling they come right into the shore for the whitebait. When you hit a shoal you just unhook a stringful and cast again. Those unhooked you lobbed into the ridge behind you. Some of these mackerel managed to flip over the ridge and start there way back to freedom. Lady would retrieve them, undamaged, before they hit the water. A good bit of summer training Now it's no dogs on the beach

Sorry for a little side tracking, Bob - she would have killed her if we hadn`t intervened, after many "scruffings" the old girl new she had to accept her as a pack member(took several weeks), however she won`t let other dogs near her when she is sniffing something and will snap at them or attack fully, however she will allow the youngster to do that, they seem to be as strange as humans sometimes ! Thanks henry, that needs some serious thought. When I was young, my father had a labrador that would swim out to moorhen's nests, pick an egg in her mouth and bring them back, one at a time, untill the nest was empty.
