hi mate, i just sold one, but it was in this contry though, but i cant see it being a problem going abroad, you will need the buyers RFD details, then take your gun to your RFD along with the buyers RFD details and he will send it for you, but first i would ring your local RFD to see how much it will cost to send so you can ok it with the buyer, i paid £20 but like i said mine was sent within the uk, hope this helps,

ps. like your little picture, took me a few seconds to work it out though,

cheers, Lee

The procedure is an expensive red tape nightmare. Worth it for a £50,000 Purdy, but forget it for lower cost guns as the effort and costs do not make it worthwhile.

An export license will need to be obtained from the SPIRE system. Last one took me 5 months and many hours of paperwork to get. The buyer will have to send over their authority to import to get the UK export license.

Then, sending it by freight is not at all straight forward. As it is classified as dangerous cargo, specialist transport forwarders will be needed, and expect to pay at least £250-00. The importer will have further charges at their end.

A gun I dealt with recently, after duty, freight, storage, forwarding, clearance charges, it was about £500-00 in total to deal with.

IF you can get an Aussie visiting this country to obtain an Overseas Visitors Permit with an authority to acquire on it, then its much easier. You do a F 2 F sale and transfer the gun onto the OVP. They leave the UK with it and what happens as they enter Aus is their concern not yours. They forward to transfer the gun within Aus to the end user.

Please know something about a subject before yelling at people- capitals on forums is yelling.

AU gun laws are not as strict as your in a lot of ways- we are able to own pistol for instance.

We have different restrictions on different type of firearms - mostly semi autos of all types and pump action shotguns but if you can show genuine need you can have any type firearm you like ( except full auto)

Class A - rimfire (not being a semi auto), single and 2 shot capacity 12# paintball markers and air rifles

Class B Centerfire- (not being a semi auto), cross bows, black powder canons and others

Class C rimfire semi auto capacity not more than 10, pump 12# capacity not more than 6 and others as determined by the commissioner

Class D semi auto centerfire and other cap of rimfire semi auto and all other cap of pump and semi auto 12#

Class H- handguns including air guns

Commoners can get Class A, you don't need a genuine reason to apply for but all others you do and have to demonstrate your genuine need.

Class B is easy if you are a hunting or competition club member or farmer etc etc

The criteria you have to comply with to get Class C is very hard and strict guidelines need to be applied and it's nearly impossible for Class D- unless you have government contracts for pest control or similar.

There is no 12FPE an under rule for air arms in AU- all firearms need to be liscensed.

All moderators and silencers are banned in AU- there is jail terms for owning one- and if a muzzle weight looks like a silencer it will be deemed a silencer and banned- the looks like a duck rule.

It would have been quite easy for your cousin to bring any of his class A rifles with him- just make application with his immigration application. with some discussion with customs and the releavent state where he was going to be living- all his class B would have been allowed also. anything in the Class C, D, or H- he would have been unlikely to take as there are time limits and other criteria that a newly immigrated person couldn't comply with.

Anything with a moderator on it would have to have the Mod removed or it wouldn't have been allowed.

but other than that it's just a bit more paperwork and a bit of time

DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR SELLING BUT THE GUNS OVER THERE

ARE A LOT CHEAPER THAN OURS, I WOULD BE CAREFUL WITH THIS.

Guns are not cheaper over here- we get most of ours out of the US market and frankly their quality isn't anywhere near UK or Euro for longarms.

The Euro is at 65 odd Cents per AUD$ and the pound is somewhere between 35 and 40 pence per AUD$-- it just makes these quality arms so much more expensive than US made longarms- the AUD$ and the USD$ are almost at parity now.

A new Theoben FAC rapid is worth almost $2500 AUD$ fully setup and ready to go- sans air tank for fills-- its the cheapest they have been for years as the pound to AUD$ exchange rates is the best it's been in many many many years ATM.

I have looked into the private importation of the FAC rapid and as a commoner it will be a nightmare for me to do it.

hope this clears up a few things for you

That OVP idea would work but I dong have anyone in the UK to do that for me ATM.

Thanks

I use capitals on most of my postings because I suffer with cataracts and retinal muscle failure,

Due to 40 years of diabetes, and even with glasses struggle to see anything up close as I have

fixed long range vision. I will admit at being wrong when getting guns to australia, but know my

cousin could not take his 22 semi auto rimfire with him and was advised by your customs that it

was not worth the hassle. If you read the posting it says I dont think you can but you can check,

and my other posting was after a quick look on the internet at the australian gun prices, example

tikka t3 1200 dollars which calculates to around £450 pounds for a new one £695 over here, as to

the quality I wouldnt know. As to my reference to being careful with this, this was in reference to

the price and possible cost involved, as mentioned in the next posting £500 pounds.

Yep

a semi auto .22 would have been a nightmare to take with him

Class C as a minimum- and that is hard enough to get for a local commoner-

with him being an import commoner -

next to impossible unless he was going there to do government work and then it's just a matter of getting the right people to sign off on it.

To help you view the board easier- try this

Do you use Firefox as you browser?? if ys hold down ctrl button and press the plus and it will increase the size of all the writing on the page + to increase - to decrease- should make it easier for you to read without having to revert to shouting.

IE will have a similar function to do with display or font size but I dont use IE so I dont know how to advise you how to make it larger.

I knew you weren't having a go about the people in the transaction I realised you were warning about the likely cost blow out that can happen with something like this.

£695 thats highway robbery. thats almost $1500 local- thats the price we pay for the S/S varmint T3 not the plain jane blued/wood.

We aren't getting them cheap- you guys are being ripped off - the price listed in the US converted into AUD means we should be buying them for about $750-800 local for blue/wood

I'm a bit of a Tikka nut

aside from my Sako P94S in .22lr all my other centerfires are either Tikka 595 or 695's (model number before T3) and I have standing orders at a few gunshops for any 695's that come through their doors as trade ins.

Just realised that all my firearms are Euro

all my tikkas- several

Rapid MK11 .25 FAC - 48FPE

Hw-90 .22 FAC- 25 FPE

and my Sako 22
