hi there gents is there any chance some one that dose keeping on a regular basis that could do something like a keepers diary. i for one would find this realy good reading to see what is done on a daily basis on a small or lager shoot.

I keep regular with whole meal bread and lots of fruit and veg.

 

Cup of tea and a fag in the a.m - set your watch by it.

A keeper friend of mine used to work for someone who kept a diary, all from the 1950's... day to day count of what was trapped, etc etc.

 

Such an amazing bit of history-

 

Sadly the bloke was conned by some americans and they stole it and alot of money.

 

Such a great shame.

Come dawn come dusk is a great book, I recommend it even if it is about keepering in years gone past Will's Shoot is also a good rear (although less about day to day and more about the general practise).

tell ya what russ get some work experience on an estate if thats what your into help out

and i find if you ask nothing in return then people are more obliging and usually after a while then who knows!!!

i am starting soon mate on a shoot near halifax hopfully im talkining to the keeper tomorrow.
