Anyone been shooting at Coniston?

Nicky - decent layouts, but never seems like real Sporting to me. A series of mini layouts.

Rishton is better. Mark and Eddie Threlfall change the targets each week and they are hittable. Nothing silly, but enough to challenge you. Food is very, very nice and cheap.

I shot the NOE Selection at Coniston a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a cracking shoot, but it would appear not everyone thought the same. Apparently a few AAA/AA shots were complaining that targets were difficult to see  Although they cant have been that bad as most of said people were shooting scorers in the mid-high 80's.

Aaaaah, the elite

They always complain when they have a bad score. The blame the ground, the target setter, the organisation, everything except themselves. They conveniently forget that all competitors shoot the same targets and some people CAN hit difficult targets.

Their whining has made a load of trouble for my club at the moment, reporting **** to the CPSA etc  Bunch of ****s :hmm:

Their definition of a good ground, is one on which they can score in the 90's. Anything else is **** apparently :hmm::lol::good:

Rishton looks interesting i'll definitely check it out when a free weekend allows.

Feed back on Coniston sounds very promising - looking forward to Wednesday even more now

One day maybe i'll be able to moan about targets being too hard too

Does the onsite Hotel allow guests to bring and store shotguns for a weekends shooting/sight seeing?

Peter,

yes, there's a gunsafe you can use at the hotel. It's also worth taking the fly rods as there's a cracking lake and a really great stretch of river you can fish.

Coniston's a great clayground, they're currently having a new clubhouse built and extending the shooting to include several more sporting layouts and a ball trap. The old clubhouse is going to be recycled to provide a covered DTL setup.
