Looking for 243, but 2nd hand. but see my thread about the ruger yesterday. Its all smoke and mirrors. Who's doing that deal? Promise I won't leap in and grab it until you've had first dibs! Latest prices I have for HOWA are stainless heavy barrel 539. the standard is 425, and the others all in between. Even taking their trade discount into account it sounds about right and must be a mediocre scope.

Looks good enough! There's a chance I'll go down that route if my other 243 options dont come to fruition. I have deer issues! and am under some time pressure. The Howa got a good review and I think it will be a good seller, just get the action/barrel you want with the cheapest stock and I'm sure the stock you are after will turn up on ebay eventually! Actually, I think it says to do that in the review as well.

dunganick
Avoid if you can. Buy a Tikka or rem. Inconsistant, take alot of work, fussy, not actually worth the small amount of money they cost. Triggers are pretty average. Better guns for the £500 price range.
