Mrs Sweepy
I need a bit of help .And information on the breed. My older sister(yes the one that got the brains) . Is more or likely going to be the proud owner of a Weimaraner pup(bitch) by the end of the day. So if anyone knows or have had one .Any help would be great. unfortuantly it will not be a working dog But i think sammy and myself will be popping down quite a bit To see if we can totally ruin the dog . You never know i might just be able to persuade Big sis to let me have it .The odd sat in shooting seasons. I mean sisterly love and all that . And its not like we havent shared things before . So if anyone can help please do xxxxxsuzy(future Weimaraner trainer)

p-a-s
mrs sweepy not realy any info on the breed but every one of these dogs i have come across has been realy food orientated they will do anything for food so if you want to show big sis how you can get the dog to do almost anything YOU want then feed her (dog)on nice tasty treats like cheese, cooked sausage, scrachings with a command given at the same time as the treat that dog would jump through hoops for a reward you need to treat the dog on the sly tho otherwise sis will cotton on paul
new to the flock
Suzy, I have had 2 Wiems over the years that I trained and hunted, and they are one of my favourite breeds. They train easier than the GSP. and GWP in my opinion and are a dream to hunt, especially on a nice misty morning where they drift in and out of the fog. They are not called Ghost Dogs for nothing. My biggest advice would be to get the obediance on her early, and be sure to get a solid whoa command on the dog. NTTF

cracker
absolutely beautiful creatures tho...and inf act one of the fastest after a greyhound. A teaspoon of codswallop that, eh? Like maybe a few sighthounds, a pointer, a basenji, assorted hounds and oh a dozen other dogs just might have a step or two on a Weim? The original poster might want to visit "Big Mike"'s Working HPR forum for more UK Weims info. MG

lurcherboy
Will take a long time to mature. LB
ziplex
Will take a long time to mature. LB Take this into account, my GSP who is now 18 months approx is still very 'puppyfied', these breeds generally take an age to grow up.....it can be very tiring!!....and trying. Mattw
I grew up with one and my parents still have another. Superb dogs really loyal but dont always seem to clever. As said before very food orientated. very strong willed, they seem to love the dominant one in the house. I would also note that frolic is great for training them especially if you arent there the next day. They will do anything for them (mums will) but 12 hours later and its farts all the way. good luck,
