MJN
Anyone know for sure what is happening at Fennes shooting ground now that the lease has expired, I heard they are installing all new traps ? Mike.
Baldrick
I understand that the ground is now to be run on an invitation-only basis, focusing on corporate days.
balgra
Apparently they are extending the carpark and putting in new traps it will be closed for most of july it should be back up and running as normal in august but it seems that the landlord wants to concentrate on the wedding business my 2 pennys worth
MC
That is the story I heard as well, I also heard a rumour that you have to join their on site club to be able to shoot there. Which will be £50 a year. How true it is I don't know as I have heard about 50 different stories in the last year. Hopefully when the dust settles then it will be business as usual. Markio
Shot there last month and asked what was what and the lady working there said that there will be new management, trap change but no mention of invitation or member only. Time will tell...
broken man
Just to add my bit: Closed most if not all of July ....62 traps coming out, 40 new ones to go in.... Because of weddings, there will be a "lunch break" during the ceremony as the happy couples keep jumping about during the "bangs". After, the bottom field will be open for shooting..... Plan of weddings to be on hut wall.... so you can see when, time Etc No mention of club fees Blah blah blah blah
MJN
Thanks Chaps, looks like I'll have to wait another month to find out more. Mike.
Markio
Anyone heard anything further to this? It's coming up to the end of July so i was wondering if they're due to open back up any time soon? Incidentally, i have two weeks off in August (4th to 15th) so if anyone is around midweek then maybe it'll be a good time to try out the new traps! Hi Markio, I was talking to Jim Sadler this morning whilst walking the dog, and no news at present, the only sure way of finding out is for someone who lives close to drive down and ask at the shop, which I believe is open if not then the archery shop which is. Choked
I was talking to someone on Sunday at 3 Acres, who shot regularly at Braintree. What he told me was that the land owner is now going to run the shoot. Currently, he is extending the car park, and re-furbishing the club house. After that, it will be back to normal. Apparently, it will open again on 1 August.
