Staffs-Shooter
Had a good day today shooting over a really small patch of laid barley. The patch was barely ( & barley!) big enough to set up a rotary in. The adjacent tram lines accomodated my floater & a flaper on the turn. Yesterday the farmer phoned to say that he had over 200 corvids & 500 pigeons hitting the field. The laid patch was grey with muck so had been hit hard. So to today - not much about upon arrival but a steady stream soon appeared. Intermitent rain showers were a dampener! A crow even came straight ovr the top of my pickup whilst setting up. 2pm was a turning point with the bag going from a steady 20 to 50 in 1hr. Finished up at 5pm with 109 pigeon, 8 corvids and a feral. Not a bad day considering the weather & the start.

I find its better to shoot till the birds start to have a problem which is usually due to a bird landing on its back. Going out too often only scares the new incomers (IMO!).
