libs
I sent all my forms off about 2 weeks ago, as did both my referees (one club official and one personal - AS STATED ON THE FORM) I got a phone call from the firearms team today telling me that the reference from my club official is no good because he has not known me for 2 years or more! My reply was... i have only been a member for a year so obviously they have known me for a year. I now have to go and find another referee and go through the whole process again. As far as i knew and read, one reference MUST come from a club official if thats your shooting intention! Can anyone shed some light on the issue as i am now stuck and will have to wait even longer for my ticket!
MC
I fell foul of this as well, Your club secretary must fill in the bit on the blue form but cannot act as a referee. Just get a family friend to do it, it isn't like a SGC where they have to be an upstanding member of the community.
libs
Not just me then! . and please dont remind me of the SGC countersig. It took 3 weeks to 'convince' my headteacher to sign, only to pull out after writing his name and adress!! I have no idea why people are so anti shooting, maybe they watch too much crimewatch? ossett_hunter
I know its off topic can a company director act as a counter sig on a sgc application?
polester
Yes he can. When I applied for my sgc I rang my Flo up and said I don't know any upstanding people and he said some body in a position of athority who knew me for at least two years was ok hope this helps

libs
sorry bob300 .. i had this convosation with my FLO and nearly ended up being arsey (bad idea -try and impress them by brown nosing) he said that a reference should be from someone who doesnt have a 'shooters head' which is stupid, as i think someone who shoots would be better able to tell wether an individual is responsible enough! I have always got shooting mates to countersign mine, another case of different areas interpreting the law differently methinks. What your man has said is, as you say, stupid. A touch of "traffic warden syndrome". As I said previously, if a man has a SGC or FAC, he must be a responsible person?
libs
i like your style ' traffic warden syndrome' sounds bang on .. i even got the ' its not my rules, its just my job to uphold them' !
bob300w
i like your style ' traffic warden syndrome' sounds bang on .. i even got the ' its not my rules, its just my job to uphold them' ! The classic words of a "Jobsworth". In your case I would phone your area HQ and ask them who is acceptable as a signatory.

I second that! bob300w has quoted nearly exactly the advice that BASC firearms gave me
