Dave66
Ferreting chaps One of my jills is suffering hair loss on one side of her tail, from one side she looks 100 %, from the other the hair is missing. She was spayed 18 months ago, everything else seems OK, the other jill is OK, just wondering why the hair loss is on one side only ? Thanks Dave
Cranfield
I wouldn't worry about it unless she starts losing hair elsewhere on her body, or seems generally unwell. Its not unusual for ferrets to lose hair from their tail in the summer, but it seems to affect hobs more, their tail can end up quite scaly, just like a rats tail. If they start to lose hair on other parts of their body as well, its often an adrenal problem and you should take them to the Vet.

Dave66
Thanks for the replies It just looks a bit odd on one side of the tail and not the other, a closer look at the tail this morning and it does look a little scaly towards the end Thanks again Dave
Kay
Hormonal hairloss is common in ferrets especially on the tail
