Hi new to this Forum so Hello to everyone.

Right i Have been shooting for um 30 years so since i was 7 and my Last Air rifle was a Air Arms Pro Sport 2.2 which was a cracking gun and i would buy another tomorrow but im thinking about going for a pre charged and with the build quality of air arms im swaying towards a S410k . So can some people give me some good and bad reasons why i should or not buy one and if anyone lives near Bristol who would not mind letting me have ago on theres. I have plenty of Land to shoot on and would like a gun to be able to multi task for rat, rabbit, pigeon, crows and jackdaws the Prosport was a great gun for all of these .

Also if anyone is selling a Pro sport or a S410k with the kit please get in touch.

Many Thanks

Van-Roy

Van roy-Iv got a S410 and its the biz!I disagree with Thai on the S510 simply because i prefer a nice bolt to a rifle instead of a sidelever!Everyone to their own i suppose! If you purchase an S410, i can guarantee that you`ll have one fantastic air-rifle-the choice is yours.GOOD LUCK.

i would nt sell a 410 for a 510. fair enough the side lever may be easier to operate but the differences are onl cosmetic so to speak. accuracy will be no better than the 410. the 410 is an amazingly accurate gun and i would say a best seller representing value for money.i think aa have nt done enough with the 510 to keep up with other manufacturers

Many thanks for your reply's , all i got to do is find one at the right money, just another question 1.77 or 2.2 , i like the stopping power of the 2.2 but in recent times the stopping power of a 1.77 has not been there seems to go straight through and does not knock them stone dead.

I've got the 410 in .22 and it stops them dead every time upto about 35 yards, Sure it would do more but I'm only confident to that range with as air rifle. Not tried the .177 but have not heard a bad word about either. Hope this info helps.

im in bath mate and will be up at mendip shooting ground on thursday evening if you wanna go on mine. im my opinion the 510 for the extra 85 quid it costs is nothing rele special and the silencer you can buy for 40 quid so the silenced barrel means nothing, its as quiet as a mouse **** with the silencer on and the side lever nothing new really. o and mines a .177 and i would never go back to .22 as the flatter trajectory rocks you dont have to worry about hold over on anything less than 45 yards when zero'd at 30

One thing that might help you to make your decision is air usage. Its somewhat topsy tuvey to understand when it comes to PCP's but is as follows.

A carbine (i.e. 410k) will use more air than the standard length barrel. A .177 will use more air than a .22. You will also learn of the sweet spot and realistic air usage. As the PCP is pressure fed, the more you use it the more the pressure reduces on a single charge. You and up with a power curve that affects the trajectory of the pellet considerably. The sweet spot is the area between the higger and lower charge that you determine is the most usable with minimal correction for trajectory created by the power curve.

Now i've confused myself. :good:;)

im getting at least 6 magazines (10shots) through before i notice any change in trajectory or power. will shoot straight untill the little guage on the bottom (yes i know they arent all that accurate) is reading about 60.

I would recommend a .22 with a Hawke SR12 scope. The scope has 'pre-programed' (if you like) aim points, so all you need to do is zero the scope at 30yrds and you will have dead accurate aim points from 20 to 60 yrds. All the guess work is done for you. The aim points are most accurate using 16grn pellets, which air arms hunters and field both are :good:

I think i will go for a 2.2 be it a k or not, just finding one at a good price, how much do the scopes go for?

The Airmax SR12 6-18x44 is around £180

The Airmax SR12 6-24x50 with illuminated reticle is around £200

Have a flick through Air gunner or the Airgun World magazine they are loads of package deals in there mate :hmm:
